GENERAL RULES

  1. The entire sports event will be held between 8AM to 2PM.
  2. All the participants should be in a proper kit.
  3. A team should have proper dress code i.e. all the students of a team should have a common color T-shirt.
  4. The decisions of Referees, umpires and the faculty coordinators will be final.
  5. Teams should report 15 minutes before the scheduled time. If the team is late by more than 5 minutes, the match would be forfeited to the opposition team.
  6. Any one faculty of respective department should be present on the field at the time of their department’s match.
  7. All the matches will be on knock out basis.
  8. All the participants are required to bring their identity cards at the time of match.
  9. Any member found in any kind of indiscipline on ground then it will result into disqualification and necessary disciplinary action will be taken by the JIET discipline committee.
  10. Any misbehaviour or misconduct with any officials may lead to strict actions and penalties against the team & may lead to the extent of declaring the opposition as winner of the match.

EVENT RULES

Basketball
  1. All the matches will be of 30 minutes each, with four quarters of 7.5 minutes each.
  2. There will be a break of 2 minutes after each quarter; however there will be a 5 minutes break at the half time.
  3. Referees decision will be final.
  4. Further rules will be conveyed to the captain at the time of match by the referee.
Carrom
  1. The first player will take all the white coins and the opposite will take the black.
  2. If any player directly touches the coin of the opposite player than that will be considered as a foul but an indirect shot can be taken i.e. if our coin is placed behind the opposite players coin.
  3. If any part of the body of the player touches the coin then it is a foul.
  4. A cover coin is must with the Queen.
  5. If a player is left with a single coin than he/she cannot touch it directly before taking the Queen.
  6. The player taking all the coins first along with the queen will be the winner.
  7. The player cannot change the position and angle of their hands.
  8. Judge decision will be the final.
Cricket
  1. All the matches will be of 10 over’s each; however the number of over’s in the semi-finals and finals may be increased depending upon the time limitations may be 12.
  2. All the rules of International cricket other than LBW and Field Restrictions will be followed.
  3. Umpires decision will be last and final decision
  4. Any changes can be discussed with faculty and student coordinators at the time of match. However the discussion will be made only with the departmental faculty coordinator and captain of the team.
Tug-of-war
  1. There will three rounds for two teams and winner will be selected for next round as per best of three rounds.
  2. One of the faculty members of respective department should be present on the field with their teams at the time of their department’s match.
  3. All the participants are required to bring their identity cards at the time of Matches
  4. .
  5. The decisions of Referees and the faculty coordinators will be final.
  6. Maximum number of players in a team is 10.
Volleyball
  1. All the matches will be BEST OF THREE. Each set of 15 points.
  2. The final match will be a BEST OF FIVE rounds with four sets of 15 points each and final set of 21 points.
  3. Referees decision will be final.
  4. Further rules will be conveyed to the captain at the time of match by the referee.
Kho-Kho
  1. Player’s entry with college id and proper sports uniform.
  2. Each team consists of 12 players, but only 9 players take the field.
  3. A match consists of two innings. An innings consists of chasing and running turns of 9 minutes each.
  4. Then, 1 team sits/kneels in the middle of the court, in a row, with adjacent members facing opposite directions.
  5. The chasers end in the shortest time possible.
  6. The team that takes the shortest time to tag/tap all the opponents in the field wins.
  7. Then players can takes off the field. They must sit in a zig zag manner
Shot-Put
  1. The shot shall be put from the shoulder with one hand only.
  2. At the time the competitor takes a stance in the circle to commence a put, the shot shall touch or be in close proximity to the neck or chin and the hand shall not bedropped below this position during the action of putting.
  3. The shot shall not be taken behind the line of the shoulders.
Throw Ball
  1. Each team will consist of 7 active players and 3 substitutes.
  2. A match shall consist of the best of three sets for 21 rally points. If a team wins the first 2 sets, then the third set will not be played.
  3. The right to choose the initial order of serving, receiving and ends shall be decided by lot and the winner will have the choice of the court or service.
  4. Players are expected to be at the court at least 30 minutes prior to the game. If the players fail to show up, the match will be canceled and the opponent will be declared a winner.
  5. Double touch (juggling the ball in both hands) is not allowed while receiving the ball.
  6. Players cannot catch the ball with the assistance of body or legs. The ball should not touch any part of the body except the palm.
  7. The player standing in position 7 should serve the ball from outside the end line.
  8. The ball should be served after the whistle and within 5 sec.
  9. The ball should be served without crossing the service line and with single hand.
  10. During the service, the ball cannot touch the net.
  11. Any ball after catching should be released within 3 seconds.
  12. A player can jump when throwing the ball or while serving.
  13. Players cannot touch the net during the play but the ball can touch the net, except for service.
  14. A player while releasing the ball cannot rotate (360 degrees) or turn around to throw the ball.
  15. Shifting the ball from right to left or left to right is not permitted.
  16. The service ball or the rally ball should not touch the poles. If it touches, then it is considered a foul.
  17. Any ball falling on the side-line or end-line is a good ball.
  18. If a ball that is out is touched by the player, then the opposite team gets to serve.
  19. After the set ends, service must be taken by the opposite team to that of the team who started the set.
  20. A player can catch the ball with both hands but should return the ball with one hand without touching any part of the body.
  21. If a ball slipped or rebounds unintentionally from the hands of any one player, another player can catch the ball and return to the opposite court before the ball touches the ground. The same player cannot catch the ball for the second time.
Chess
  1. Touch and move rule will be followed.
  2. Maximum time for a game will be 10 mints (Classical).
  3. In case of tied scores, A 10 minutes tie breaker match will be played between two players of both teams. If there is any claim, It should be done after calling the arbiter.
  4. Agreed draw is allowed in the tournament.
  5. Both opponents must press the clock with same hand that moves the pieces. If not, you may be penalized 3 minutes, which will be added to opponent's time.Or every illegal move u played may be penalized you by 3 min.
Table-Tennis
  1. Players should have their own rackets; the organizing committee will not be providing any racket.
  2. All the matches will be BEST OF ONE of 15 points.
  3. The SEMI-FINALS and FINALS will be BEST OF THREE.
  4. Disturbing table’s position during match will be considered as foul.
  5. Ball should be properly tossed while serving.
  6. Referees decision will be final.
Athletics
  1. Decision of Referees and organizing committee will be final and binding.
  2. Injuries sustained during match are sole responsibility of players.
  3. No blame should be given on authority or committee.
  4. Participants should ensure that they are physically fit.
  5. The decisions of the judges will be final.
